Pet Of The Month

February Pet(s) of the Month

Star, Cassidy and Carli

I've had whippets in my life since 1972.  Or should I say, "They,ve had me".  They are so suited to being great house pets; sleeping many hours a day, either in the house or on their lounges by the pool.  When I get home from work and they are ready for their walk or run in the fields, I'd better be ready and get them going.  They love the exercise and I do too.

Being they are bred as the perfect athlete and bred to run: I enter them in club organized races, mostly in Sacramento but they have gone as far as Colorado to race.   No money ever changes hands.  Its all about the the dogs doing what they love and coming home with a ribbon and a squeak toy or a dog bed.  It is so satisfying to drive home  with a tired but happy dog who put their "all" into the day  and had a wonderful time doing what they do best, "run"

Samantha

Sam came to us on the 4th of July 2001.  She was found at the YMCA by our niece, Raine.  We did not plan on keeping her but had plans to find a good home for her....but, instead, we fell in love with her and have had her 10 years (she is approximately 11 years old).  Sam has become a big part of our lives ( she is only little spoiled, actually a lot spoiled).

Sam has developed thyroid problems that can come with dogs aging.  With Dr. Mac's care Sam is feeling more like her young self.
